The best season for flowers of Rebun Island is also a festive season. Together with the beautiful summer scenery, please enjoy events to have fresh seafood which the Sea of Japan nourishes, and epic festivals which are embellished with the history of the island.

6月

Rebun Flower Festival

*The second Saturday of June at Kafuka area (Kafukai event square)
*The second Sunday of June at Funadomari area (Funadomari general park square)

When the flowers in Rebun Island start to bloom all at once, this event is held as the formal start of the tourist season. You can enjoy fresh seafood, from sea urchin down, and delicious dishes. Enjoyable entertainments such as lucky dip of fish, competitive eating of Rebun manju, Japanese-style bun with bean-jam filling, and beer drinking are also taken place.


7月

Itsukushima Shrine Annual Festival

*From 14th to 16th of July at Kafuka

A feature of this festival is Mikoshi Togyo, which is that the young in the island carry a portable shrine over timing their steps to the chorus and hurl it into the sky. Mikoshi Togyo only can be seen in Rebun Island and is worth seeing. If tourists want to join it, they need to obtain local young people’s consent and also have to learn the chorus.
A lion dance, Japanese long‐nosed goblin and children with a festival dress also parade together. In addition, Rebun Jinjya Reitaisai (The Rebun Shrine annual festival) is held in Funadomari area from 8th to 10th of July.


8月

Rebun Hometown Fetsival

*August 7th at Lake-side festival, 8th at A display of fireworks (Funadomari area)
*9th at A display of fireworks, 10th at Channel festival (Kafuka area)

This is the greatest event of Rebun Island that the whole island is filled with feverish excitement. At the Lake-side festival and the Channel festival, beer gardens and street stalls of the specialty of the island are set up on the main streets of the city area. Various entertainments such as a tug of war, drawing lots and a musical performance are taken place. With a glass of beer in their hand, the inhabitants of Rebun Island and tourists regret the end of summer.
