Itsukushima Shrine Annual Festival
*From 14th to 16th of July
at Kafuka
A feature of this festival is Mikoshi Togyo, which is that the young in
the island carry a portable shrine over timing their steps to
the chorus and hurl it into the sky. Mikoshi Togyo only can be
seen in Rebun Island and is worth seeing. If tourists want to
join it, they need to obtain local young people’s consent and
also have to learn the chorus.
A lion dance, Japanese long‐nosed goblin and children with a festival
dress also parade together. In addition, Rebun Jinjya Reitaisai
(The Rebun Shrine annual festival) is held in Funadomari area
from 8th to 10th of July.
